Fri, 16 Sep 2011 15:42:47 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0.1 We’ve been phone hacked! http://www.quiltedcamel.com/2011/09/16/we-have-been-phone-hacked/ http://www.quiltedcamel.com/2011/09/16/we-have-been-phone-hacked/#comments Fri, 16 Sep 2011 15:37:38 +0000 admin http://www.quiltedcamel.com/?p=354 Richard Shaft, a spokesperson for the Quilted Camel on Newcastle’s famous Quayside has today publicly accused the News of the Shroom of hacking into the private messages and phone calls of their staff in order to pilfer information.  Mr Shaft believes the ideas stolen would have given Quilted Camel a substantial edge over competition during the present freshers campaign.  “Our main advertising slogan ‘drink treble, see double, stay single’ was uncovered by the News of the Shroom who quickly turned this into their main campaign of the new student year, branding condoms with the slogan to hand out to students during freshers week.  Is it coincidence that they have just happened to think of exactly the same slogan as my colleagues Mike Rotch, Mike Hunt and I came up with in one of our conference call meetings back in July?  I think not”.  Quilted Camel has stated they intend on fighting the News of the Shroom in the courts and believe a full public enquiry should follow.

Following the allegations Mr Shaft is now being questioned by police following allegations he has made threats to people he accuses to have been involved with the hacking scandal.

Gloria Swank, a director of Fluid Group, the company that owns both the Mushroom & the News of the Shroom insists the allegations are entirely bogus and points her finger in the opposite direction.  Miss Swank erupted stating “once upon a time the Mushroom was the only bar in the country to sell Viagra and offer our customers golden showers, but when the Quilted Camel noticed how popular the bar was they imitated everything.  It doesn’t surprise me one bit that they want to try and make it look the other way round.  We have nothing to be afraid of and our operations will remain completely transparent”.  Insisting that the ‘drink treble, see double, stay single’ slogan was that of their own work Miss Swank went on to state that the idea came to them when they saw one of their regular customers leaving with two sexy blondes, of which neither we’re his girlfriend.  “It was originally ‘drink treble, see double, act single’ however we thought that promoting drunken, casual sex may have upset the authorities somewhat”.

Miss Swank has also spoken with police with regards to Mr Shafts threats of ‘smashing her back doors in’ and Chief Inspector Willy B. Hardigan has assured her that truncheon bearing police officers will continue to stand guard outside of her back door in case anyone should try to penetrate.  Miss Swank said “seeing so many policeman’s helmets at my back door is extremely reassuring”.
